Dr. Spillman’s research interests include disability trends and long-term care use and financing among the elderly, as well as levels of access to and utilization of health services for nonelderly adults. She has authored reports that project service use and cost for the Medicare elderly, and that examine changes over time in the role of informal caregivers for the disabled elderly.
