Dr. Waidmann’s research focuses on the economics and demography of health, disability, and retirement. He has collaborated on several projects examining the impact of deteriorating health on the retirement decisions of older adults. Much of this work examines race and socioeconomic differences in health and retirement behavior. He has also studied the welfare economics of social insurance and the effects of government social insurance programs on labor force behavior.
